Support from the CBA

11 January 2013

Hazchem Network are proud to have been associate members of the Chemical Business Association [CBA] since our start of operations in 2004. The Chemical Business Association [based in Crewe, Cheshire] is an important trade association for those involved in the chemical industry, be it manufacture, analysis, storage, logistics, exportation, risk management, materials handling, packaging, consultancy, responsible care, regulatory, QHSE matters as well as business legislation – and much else.

The CBA provide a strong lobbying position as well as managing events, consultancy, seminars and training for those involved in the sector, and are often referred to as ‘The Voice of the Chemical Supply Chain’.

The CBA website explains their role and services >

In these economically challenging times the role of the CBA is even more vital, because their help desk for members is an essential tool to ensure regulatory compliance due to the complexity of staying ahead of legislation, and keeping track of changes.

One area that we are often asked advice about is ‘Chemical Handling’, so we wanted to take this opportunity to let you know that the CBA have organised a brand new workshop entitled COSHH & Chemical Handling which is to be held at their offices in Crewe on Thursday 9th May 2013.

This Workshop provides a basic insight into aspects of chemical management including:

·         Regulatory Requirements

·         Product Segregation

·         Risk Assessments

·         Hazard Communication

·         Safety & Health Management

·         Information Sources

If you are interested in coming along please complete & return the attached booking form [right click here and select ‘save as’] marked for the attention of Claire Morris or Natalie Gilligan at CBA.  For any queries regarding content, please do not hesitate to contact Douglas Leech, CBA Technical Director, who will be only too happy to help you.
